Mission Statement

To develop the skills needed to face the challenges and opportunities of an interconnected world, the Center for Global Education works to develop a community of global citizens at Butler University through transformative study away programs, strong immigration and cultural support for international students and scholars, and intentional engagement with faculty to internationalize the curriculum.

  • Oversee CGE budget and supervise CGE staff
  • Faculty-led Semester Programs: administer and create policies and procedures, budgets, payments, and as-needed logistics
  • Faculty-led Summer Programs: administer and create policies and procedures, rosters, budgets, payments, and as-needed logistics for faculty-led programs
  • Develop academic cooperation and exchange relationships with universities abroad
  • Member of committee for internal faculty development grants
  • Represent Butler at conferences and at IFSA
  • Serve as Butler’s Responsible Officer (RO) for Exchange Visitor J-1 Program and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for Degree-seeking F-1 Program
  • Process short Term Scholars for academic departments
  • Study Abroad billing for all terms
  • Yearly cost analysis for Vice President of Finance, create reports and statistics as needed
  • Creation of special programs: such as internship, service learning, or pre-matriculation programs
  • Liaison with on-campus support services (student affairs, disability student services, campus security)
  • Clery compliance officer for CGE
  • Maintain health and safety protocol as well as risk management plans
  •  Assessment of student outcomes and programs
  •  Creates roster of study abroad for auxiliary offices on campus
  •  Oversee endowed accounts and scholarship awards
  •  Maintain the approved list of programs

  • Develop programming and support services for international students and scholars

  • Coordinate housing in the international unit within the Residential College

  • Serve as the main point of contact to develop, coordinate, & manage new/existing faculty-led programs
  • Serve as the main point of contact to develop, coordinate, and manage new and existing faculty‐led programs
  • Manage pertinent risk management policies and procedures
  • Develop, organize, and administer student orientation and re‐entry activities, and assist with other cross‐cultural education programs
  • Collect student deposits and make payments to outside vendors
  • Organize training for faculty members leading programs abroad
  • Assist the director in reviewing funding for faculty grants pertinent to program creation
  • Participate in New Student Registration and other needed presentations on campus
  • Liaison and troubleshoot with several key offices on campus for student course registration, billing, student affairs, health services, and disability student services

  • Serve as advisor for Butler University students preparing to study abroad on faculty-led and exchange programs
  • Coordinate internal procedures for study abroad students, including online applications for all outgoing students earning credit abroad
  • Conduct information sessions and outreach activities for students, parents, faculty, and staff, including, but not limited to: New Student Registration, Welcome Week, Homecoming Weekend, Family Weekend, Admissions events, FYS presentations, etc.
  • Maintain communications with the international offices of Butler’s partner universities abroad
  • Work with the Associate Director for Incoming International Exchanges and International Student Services to maintain Exchange balance and incoming exchange student roster
  • Serve as Butler’s primary ISEP coordinator
  • Maintain accurate information sheets on exchanges for outbound students
  • Coordinate study abroad pre-departure orientation (PDO) and re-entry events
  • Manage progran logistics for Semester in Spain
  • Oversee evaluation of international transcripts
  • Receive and determine acceptance of petitioned program applications

  • Coordinate internal procedures for study abroad students
  • Conduct information sessions and outreach activities for students, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Coordinate re-entry events
  • Assist in coordinating events put on by the department
  • Make classroom presentations to promote programs
  • Assist Associate Director for Study Abroad with application and registration procedures for exchange programs
  • Assist in collecting pre-departure paperwork as well as participate in Pre-Departure Orientation each semester
  • Help with website maintenance and department promotional material, particularly social media, events promotion, and bulletin boards
